Design
The Graphic & Layout Design Team is responsible for creating visually compelling spreads for the printed magazine.
Team members transform articles and photoshoots into cohesive layouts, often incorporating original illustrations that enhance the design and convey each article/photoshoot’s message.
Skills Required: Creativity; experience in graphic/layout design; proficiency or familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; ability to meet deadlines; openness to feedback.
Digital
The digital/media team is in charge of creating content for Platform’s social media, website, and podcast. The content created can range anywhere from photoshoot recap videos to photography for Instagram.
If you are wanting to learn more about social media planning, aesthetics, podcast creation, and media management then this is the team for you!
Skills Required: Familiarity all social media outlets, interest in content creation, creativity, and self accountability
Editorial
The editorial team is looking for eager writers to join their team. If you are interested in writing creative nonfiction pieces, blog-style articles, or just sharing your ideas, you should consider applying!
The main role of the editorial team is to publish articles for both Platform’s online blog and magazine.
Skills Required: Inspired and passionate about certain topics or issues, curiosity, enthusiasm, and authenticity
Photography
The photography team is partially responsible for bringing the creative ideas we have for each magazine to life.
We work closely with models, stylists, and set designers to ensure that we capture the perfect moment.
We also use photo editing to enhance the final photos and make them magazine ready!
Skills Required: Communication, Adobe Lightroom, Patience, Attention to detail
Styling
The styling team works together to form a collection of clothing and accessories that are cohesive with the given photoshoot.
Using this collection, stylists will be assigned to models to curate outfits that accentuate the photoshoot’s set, mood, and aesthetic while also collaborating with the set design team.
Skills Required: An eye-for-detail, creative, open-minded, collaborative
Modeling
The modeling team is a place to showcase your modeling talent as an art form. To nurture this skill with first hand experience on set of Platform photoshoots and even during model workshops where we will learn to build our confidence in front of a camera.
When looking through modeling applications, we like to see someone who is willing to step out of the box of just a pretty face. Interesting poses and expressivness is always applauded.
Skills Required: Willingness to learn, enough confidence in themselves that it can be nurtured and grown, and a team player
Set Design
As a member of the set design team, expect to collaborate on designs, create props, and source objects that aid in capturing the desired visual aesthetic of the photoshoot at hand.
Keep in mind, the set design team often brainstorms and collaborates with the styling team due to work overlapping when creating and producing the set.
Skills Required: Resourcefulness, design skill, creativity, craftsmanship, efficiency, innovation
Cosmetology
The makeup and hair team is an outlet for creativity. As a member of the team, you'll work closely with photographers, models, and other creative talents to create stunning, on-theme makeup and hair looks for our editorial shoots. With opportunities to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative setting, you'll be able to learn from peers, experiment with new techniques, and contribute to the overall aesthetic of our publication.
When looking through MUA applications, we like to see creativity and versatility in both makeup and hair styling. Experimentation and out-of-the-box looks are always a good thing.
Skills Required: Familiarity with makeup application and hair styling, knowledge of techniques and products, ability to create makeup and hair looks that align with the magazine's themes and editorial direction, creative perspectives, and strong communication.
